NPFL referees to get 30% increment

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) referees will see their salaries increased, following an approval by the league’s board for the 2023-24 season.

With the support of the league’s strategic partners, GTI Assets Management, an increment of 30% has been agreed.

The Chairman of the NPFL, Gbenga Elegbeleye explained that the increment was based on the general increase in cost of transportation all over the country.

“We are not unaware of the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on transportation.

“Increasing the allowance of the Match Officials by 30% is the right thing to do”, he stated.

The new season has been slated to start on Saturday, September 9, with a flag off fixture between Shooting Stars (3SC) and Plateau United at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan.
