Nottingham Forest join race to sign Awoniyi

Nottingham Forest, a newly promoted Premier League club, has begun talks with Union Berlin about Nigeria striker Taiwo Awoniyi.

Last season, Awoniyi scored 15 goals in 31 league appearances for Union Berlin.

According to reports, the striker’s contract includes a €20 million (£17.2 million) release clause.

Other European clubs are interested in signing the striker, but he is set on playing in the Premier League.

For six years, Awoniyi was on the books of Premier League giants Liverpool, but he never played for the Reds.

He was loaned out to German, Dutch, and Belgian clubs.

After spending time on loan at Union Berlin, the 24-year-old signed a permanent deal with the club last summer.
