Irish FA has fired Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough.
The choice was made on Thursday night in Belfast during an executive board meeting.
Only four of NI’s 22 competitive games have been victories under Baraclough, who took over as manager for Michael O’Neill 28 months ago.
Despite losing to Greece at the end of September, his team managed to stay in the Nations League and avoid relegation.
According to IFA Chief Executive Patrick Nelson, “Under Ian’s stewardship we have seen the introduction of new players who will wear the green jersey with pride for years to come.”
“However, in light of the overall record of results on the pitch, the Irish FA board has subsequently taken this decision.”
Since NI won’t be engaged in competitive activity again until March, the search for a new manager begins.
