Nigerian rising star, Amoo sentence to prison for rape in Denmark

Nigerian youth team star Akinkunmi Amoo has landed in trouble in Denmark.

The former Golden Eaglet player has been sentenced to one-year in prison by a court in Denmark for sexual assault. He will have the chance to appeal the court decision.

Ekstra Bladet reports that Amoo was  charged with rape, as well as attempted rape and violations of two more women.

For this reason, Danish authorities filed criminal charges against the player in April 2022, and then again in July and August 2022 and the trial has been going on for most of June 2023.

The Nigerian was found guilty of all three charges in the Copenhagen District Court.

The 21-year-old will be deported after serving the jail term.

He will then be banned from entering Denmark for six years.

Amoo was part of the Golden Eaglets side that featured at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
