Nigeria vs Mozambique: Two records that could be broken in friendly

Nigeria will take on Mozambique in an international friendly on Monday evening.

It is the second game the Super Eagles will be playing this break.

Last Friday, the three-time African champions were held to a 2-2 draw by Saudi Arabia in another friendly.

The game will be played at the Estadio Municipal De Albufeira.

At least two records could be broken during the game.

The first one is that Mozambique has never won a match against Nigeria in their history.

Secondly they have also not scored against the Eagles.

Here’s a look at their previous four encounters.

MOZAMBIQUE 0-1 NIGERIA (1999 – Friendly Game)

Mozambique’s first meeting against the Super Eagles was a friendly game in Maputo on 17 August 1999.

The Eagles, under Dutch coach Thijs Libregts, triumphed over Mozambique 1-0 thanks to Okolosi’s strike.

MOZAMBIQUE 0-0 NIGERIA (2009 – South Africa 2010 World Cup Qualifiers/1st Leg)

On 29 March 2009, Mozambique hosted the Super Eagles in Maputo, in the first-leg, match day 1 group stage for the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
