NFF appoints Jose Peseiro as new Super Eagles coach

Jose Peseiro

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday, announced the appointment of Jose Peseiro, as the new Super Eagles Head Coach.

NFF confirmed this in a communique on Wednesday after its National Executive Council meeting.

It is widely believed that former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, recommended Peseiro, who is also Portuguese.

“After careful consideration of a memo presented by Chairman of the Technical and Development Sub-Committee, the Executive Committee endorsed a proposal for the appointment of Mr Jose Peseiro as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles, following the end to the relationship with Mr Gernot Rohr,” the NFF communique read in part.

Peseiro will work hand-in-hand with Augustine Eguavoen at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next month.

Eguavoen was appointed on an interim basis after Gernot Rohr was sacked last month.
