Neal Maupay: Everton join race to sign Brighton’s striker

Neal Maupay’s move from Brighton to Everton might be finalised before the summer transfer window closes.

Three Premier League teams are vying for the talents of the French striker, and Everton have been in a battle with Fulham and Nottingham Forest for his services.

The Athletic reports that Everton appears to be in the lead for the victory. In fact, the 26-year-old was persuaded to move to Merseyside after speaking with Frank Lampard.

However, Everton will need to bid at least £14 million to secure his services. Brighton wants to match any transfer fee they are to receive with the amount they initially spent on Maupay.

However, Fulham, his rival suitor, hasn’t yet agreed on his price. In contrast, despite Nottingham Forest’s £15 million offer, Maupay does not support them as his preferred next stop (as have Italian side, Salernitana, who are unable to afford his wages, it seems).

Given their requirement for additional attacking reinforcements, Everton may have a good chance of acquiring Maupay. Richarlison was sold earlier this summer to Tottenham Hotspur, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled with injuries.

Maupay has now played in the Premier League for three complete seasons. It is unknown where he will spend the remainder of this one. Though it might be with Everton.
