Rangers are on the verge of appointing Michael Beale as their new manager.
Beale had become the Scottish giants’ top choice to succeed Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who had been fired a few days earlier.
Rangers thought about their options, but they decided to go with Beale because of his prior tenure at Ibrox and because he is someone they know very well.
Beale accompanied the former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa last year after serving as his assistant for three years at Rangers.
Beale himself left Villa this summer to become a manager, taking over Queens Park Rangers of the Championship.
He turned down the opportunity to lead Wolves just a few weeks ago, but he is now poised to depart Loftus Road and return to Glasgow, where he will take over this team.
According to 90 minutes, there was only an agreement between the two clubs that needed to be finalised, but sources believe the appointment will be official by the beginning of next week.
