Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has explained why he dropped Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon from his starting XI to face Manchester City on Sunday.
According to the Dutchman, it is because of ‘tactical’ reasons.
When asked to explain his decision, Ten Hag said: ‘Tactics.’
Pushed on whether it was the ‘experience’ that Evans and Lindelof provide, Ten Hag again pushed back and said the decision was purely tactical.
‘Yeah but that’s not the argument to make the selection as I said it’s just tactics. That’s the answer.’
The other changes see Antony and Sergi Reguilon drop to the bench for Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof, who is set to play at right-back.
Alejandro Garnacho is also on the bench despite his social media incident with starting goalkeeper Andre Onana this week.
