The Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ which is made up of Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, want to bring Celtic and Rangers into English football’s top-flight, the UK Sun reports.
This follows the collapse of the European Super League.
Just 48 hours after the announcement of the breakaway competition, the six clubs involved were forced into U-turns following opposition from fans, players and governing bodies.
However, in many of the statements from the clubs confirming their withdrawals from the Super League, they stressed a need for changes and reforms to the sport.
It is now believed that the rebel clubs’ next brainwave is to create a new British league, with Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers merging with the current roster of Premier League clubs.
Celtic and Rangers would be keen to leave the Scottish Premiership, while the pair’s SPL rivals are happy to wave goodbye, as it would dramatically increase their own chances of winning the title and qualifying for the Champions League.
