United were trailing when Scott McTominay scored an equaliser off of a deflection, and Anthony Martial scored his second goal of preseason in the space of three minutes at the end of the first half. This caused the game to turn around in an instant.
United maintained control against a tiring Melbourne side despite Ten Hag making ten substitutions at halftime. The team hit four goals in consecutive pre-season games thanks to Marcus Rashford’s third goal and an own goal scored by Edmond Lupancu late in the game.
