Manchester United have issued update on the injury sustained by Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the club’s clash with Tottenham in the English Premier League on Saturday.
According to a statement issued on the club’s website on Thursday, Ronaldo has been working separately as he looks to regain full fitness following a hip problem.
The club also gave update on the COVID-19 contracted by Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane.
The statement read, “Raphael Varane has returned to training after contracting Covid-19 but Cristiano Ronaldo has been working separately as he looks to regain full fitness following a hip problem.
“Luke Shaw missed the Manchester City game, after also testing positive for the virus, with Alex Telles operating at left-back at the Etihad Stadium.
“There are hopes Edinson Cavani could make his first appearance since the 1-1 draw at Burnley last month. The South American striker scored in the corresponding fixture with Spurs, a 3-0 victory in late October.
“Bruno Fernandes was used in a ‘false-nine’ role in the derby, with Paul Pogba also quite advanced in a central position, in a change of tactics for the clash with our neighbours.
“Marcus Rashford came off the bench for the second half and we expect an update from the boss on the striker situation in Friday’s press conference, regarding the possible availability of Cavani and Ronaldo.
“Youngster Hannibal was among the substitutes last weekend and was training with the senior squad again on Wednesday.”
