Manchester City left-back, Benjamin Mendy, has been charged with two additional counts of rape, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Mendy is already facing four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, and was denied bail last month.

The 27-year-old who joined Manchester City from Monaco in a £52 million deal in 2017, is currently being held on remand at HMP Altcourse, Liverpool.

The Crown Prosecution Service said in a statement on Tuesday that it has authorised Cheshire police to charge Mendy with two additional counts of rape and Louis Saha Matturie, 40, with two additional counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

Mendy now faces six counts of rape and one of sexual assault which relate to four complainants over the age of 16.

A trial date has been set for January 24.
