Maduka Okoye, the goalkeeper for the Super Eagles, has commented on his new team Watford’s preseason loss to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday.
Bolton Wanderers, a League One team (third tier division), defeated Watford 2-0 at the Hornets London Colney practise facility.
After three preseason games (one draw), goals from Kieran Lee and Dapo Afolayan in the first half condemned Watford to their second loss.
While his countrymen William Troost-Ekong and Tom Dele-Bashiru started the game, Okoye was introduced at halftime with Watford already down 2-0.
Okoye praised his teammates for playing better in the second half while also reflecting on the loss.
“Yeah I think it was quite difficult in the beginning,” Okoye said in a video published on Watford’s Twitter handle.
“But, yeah I think we would find our way. You could see in the second half we did it way better.
“But it’s understandable because we just came together.”
The former Sparta Rotterdam player praised his new side’s so far-fantastic experience.
“Yeah fantastic, having a great time already.
“Funny guys, funny teammates , good vibes.
“And I think that’s important feeling connected to the players,to the staff, setting very very well.
“Yeah it was awesome had a good time there,we worked very hard.
“But with fun, with a smile on our face.
“We made good steps in the right direction in Austria.”
Okoye helped Sparta Rotterdam avoid relegation by making 30 appearances for them in the Eredivisie last year.
