Center-back for Liverpool, Ibrahima Konate’s availability for Sunday’s Premier League match at Anfield against Manchester City is in doubt.
The 23-year-old made his first start of the season when he partnered with Virgil van Dijk in the middle of the defense during the 7-1 drubbing of Rangers in the Champions League last week.
Due to a muscular issue, he was unable to practice on Friday and was scheduled to receive more testing on Saturday, jeopardizing his ability to play against City. Although the problem is thought to be slight, Liverpool will not take any chances with a player who has only recently made a comeback after a two-month absence.
Konate’s absence from the eagerly awaited encounter would be the most recent in a succession of setbacks for Jurgen Klopp due to injuries. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip have already left Liverpool’s defense.
Luiz Diaz, who suffered a knee injury against Arsenal, is anticipated to be out until December, and midfielder Arthur is anticipated to be out for three to four months.
Despite returning to training, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are still not fully fit.
Liverpool enters the game in the Premier League in 11th place, 13 points behind City, despite having played one more game.
