With the expected appointment of a new manager, Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly planning to play forward Lionel Messi in a different position next season.
Messi stunned the football world when he left his boyhood club Barcelona for PSG last summer after his contract expired.
The Argentine captain had a rough first season at PSG, needing time to adjust to the new surroundings.
Last season, Messi was mostly utilised on the right side of PSG’s attack under manager Mauricio Pochettino, making 34 appearances, scoring 11 goals and contributing 15 assists.
According to FootMercato (via PSGTalk), the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner may be utilized as a number 10 next season, with PSG’s advisor Luis Campos trying to hire OGC Nice coach Christophe Galtier as manager.
Galtier had been connected with the Parc des Princes post, which would see him succeed Pochettino.
With Galtier in control at PSG, Campos is said to want to create a 3-5-2 structure, with Messi moving into a number 10 role.
