On Sunday, the Ligue 1 award ceremony for 2021/22 was held in Paris.
The National Union of Professional Football Players (UNFP) bestows the honours on players from France’s top two divisions each year.
Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain earned the French league’s best player title for the third time in his career on Sunday.
Mbappe leads the league in scoring with 25 goals for PSG and 36 in all competitions.
Mbappe, who joined PSG from Monaco a few years ago, remarked after earning the accolade, “It’s always an honour to be here. Winning for the third time in a row is incredible.”
Mbappe added that, “I’ve felt the recognition this season more than ever.”
Meanwhile, Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain was named best goalkeeper.
Rennes’ Bruno Genesio was awarded the best coach in the Ligue 1 season of 2021/22.
William Saliba, a 21-year-old Marseille defender on loan from Premier League club Arsenal, was named the best young player.
