For the rest of the season, Lewis Hamilton has urged his Mercedes team to keep the pride logo on the nose of his Formula One car.
To commemorate Pride Month, the Silver Arrows have decided to replace their silver three-pointed star with a ‘Pride Star’ for the next three races in Baku, Montreal, and Silverstone.
Hamilton, a seven-time World Champion, has now instructed his team to use the Pride Star for the remainder of the season to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community.
If they go ahead with Hamilton’s suggestion, however, it will cause problems in the future because races will be held in Singapore and Abu Dhabi, both of which prohibit same-sex relationships.
Hamilton took to Instagram to share a reel from Mercedes’ official account showing the Pride Star being applied on his car, Hamilton said: “Let’s use it for the rest of the year.”
