Real Madrid terminates Hazard’s contract

Real Madrid have confirmed they have terminated the contract of former Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

This means that the Belgium international is now a free agent.

The Spanish giants made this known in a statement on their official website, bringing to an end Hazard’s stay at the Bernabeu.

The former Lille winger joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 in a £90million deal at a point in his career where he appeared to be at the peak of his powers.

The 32-year-old’s spell at the Santiago Bernabeu has been nothing short of a nightmare, however, with injuries and a total loss of form and confidence.

Hazard is said to have hardly been on speaking terms with Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti in recent months and overall made just 10 appearances in all competitions this season.

“Real Madrid CF and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player will be released from the club as of June 30, 2023,” the statement reads.

“Eden Hazard has been part of our club for four seasons, in which he has won 8 titles: 1 European Cup, 1 Club World Cup, 1 European Super Cup, 2 Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey and 2 Spanish Super Cups.

“Real Madrid wants to express its affection for Eden Hazard and wishes him and his entire family the best of luck in this new stage.”
