Chelsea have been informed by Jules Kounde’s agents that the French defender is ready to complete his move to Stamford Bridge.
Kounde’s asking price of £55 million was met by the Blues earlier this week, but despite never submitting a formal bid to Sevilla, Barcelona kept in touch with the 23-year-old in an effort to persuade him to move to Camp Nou.
Meanwhile, Kounde was left out of Sevilla’s pre-season squad due to the fact that he is recovering from an injury and has yet to resume team training, only to request to travel to Portugal with the rest of the first team anyway.
However, sources have now confirmed to 90min that Kounde has formally communicated his desire to finalise his move to England.
Personal terms have long been agreed upon after Chelsea came close to signing Kounde last summer, and with Sevilla also agreeing, the Blues are now finalising the necessary paperwork to complete this long-awaited signing.
