Former England international Kevin Davies has praised former Super Eagles captain Jay-Jay Okocha, describing the Nigerian as a “magician.”
The Nigerian national team has produced some of the best footballers in the world, but Okocha appears to be the best of them all.
When asked about his time playing alongside Okocha at English club Bolton Wanderers, Davies said the master dribbler was extremely skilled.
Okocha moved to the Reebok Stadium on a free transfer shortly after the 2002 FIFA World Cup, and it was there that he created some of his most memorable moments, according to Soccernet.
Davies joined Bolton in 2003 and played alongside Okocha until the Nigerian’s departure in 2006.
Both were instrumental in helping Bolton reach the Football League Cup final in 2004. The Athletic quoted Davies as saying:
“You’d want to be on his team in training five-a-sides. Because if you were against him he could make you look stupid.
“But he couldn’t do it in an arrogant way: he’d always have a little smile on his face (when he was making you look stupid). You couldn’t see the ball or where it went.
“He could do anything with the ball. He was a magician.”
