Iwobi scores first Fulham goal as they eliminate Norwich City

Alex Iwobi netted his first goal for Fulham as they defeated Norwich City 2-1 in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday night.

The Super Eagles midfielder was handed his first start for the Cottagers following his summer transfer from Everton.

His compatriot Calvin Bassey started in defence.

Fulham got a dream start, as they got in front in the 12th minute via a strike from Carlos Vinicius.

Despite dominating the play, they had to wait till the 72nd minute before they got their second, and it was via a stroke of brilliance from Iwobi.

Fulham won the ball deep in Norwich City’s half, and Harry Wilson played a pass to Iwobi, who was just outside the box. The Nigerian then struck a low shot into the bottom left corner of Norwich City’s goal to make it 2-0.

However, Borja Sainz pulled one back for Norwich City in the 75th minute to make it 2-1. It eventually ended that way at Craven Cottage.
