Due to a knee injury that prevented him from playing against Manchester United, Kalidou Koulibaly will miss Chelsea’s Champions League match against Red Bull Salzburg.
Koulibaly was not included in the 21-man Chelsea team that left on Monday for their match against Red Bull Salzburg. The defender has been out once more with a knee injury he sustained against Brentford. He missed Chelsea’s most recent game against Manchester United on Saturday.
Even though competition for spots is fierce when all of Chelsea’s defenders are completely healthy, the Senegal captain has adjusted to life at Stamford Bridge quite quickly. He has participated in eight of their team’s 13 Premier League games thus far, missing just one due to a red card-related suspension.
Reece James, N’Golo Kante, and Wesley Fofana are all out for lengthy periods of time for the Blues, adding Koulibaly to their list of important players who are injured.
Chelsea Manager, Graham Potter’s comment
Manager Graham Potter gave reporters an upbeat update, saying: “It’s not too serious but this game was too soon for him. We’re hoping to get him on the grass Wednesday or Thursday.”
Koulibaly will aim to be healthy for Chelsea’s upcoming Premier League match against Brighton on October 29. Brighton is the former team of his boss.
