Iheanacho celebrates Leicester City’s pre-season win against Derby

    By Kachi DavJuly 24, 2022

After his team Leicester City defeated League One team Derby County in a preseason friendly, Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho is in celebration mood.

On Saturday, July 23, at Derby’s Pride Park, The Foxes defeated The Rams 3-1.

Both teams were unable to score in the first half, which ended scoreless. After the break, Iheanacho scored the game’s first goal, but ten minutes later, Derby County’s Tom Barkhuizen tied the score.

Leicester City won the game thanks to goals from Patson Daka and Callum Wright in the second half.

In the game, Iheanacho’s compatriot Wilfred Ndidi made his comeback from injury.

Iheanacho celebrated the Foxes’ victory on Twitter.

His rhythmic Tweet reads, “Derby win in Derby.”

In 26 Premier League appearances for Leicester City in the 2021–2022 season, Iheanacho scored four goals and registered five assists. In total, he has eight goals and nine assists across all competitions. For the Nigerian Super Eagles, he has 11 goals in 42 games.

With 52 points from 38 games, Leicester City placed eighth in the Premier League last year.
