The Super Eagles of Nigeria shared the spoils with their West African rivals, Black Stars of Ghana, in their Qatar 2022 World Cup playoff first leg clash at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, on Friday.
The hosts dominated the game with 56 per cent possession but were denied goals by the strong Nigerian defense.
The Super Eagles despite being with stars like Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze, Kelechi Iheanacho, Joe Aribo, amongst others, failed to fly pass the Black Stars.
The match ended in an entertaining goalless draw.
The Super Eagles were declined a penalty after a VAR check.
Nigeria will hosts Black Stars for the second leg tie at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday.
The winner of the match will take one of Africa’s five spots at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup holding later in the year.
Meanwhile, the other World Cup Qualifier African zone playoff between Senegal and Egypt ended 1-0 in favour of the Egyptians as Mohammad Salah helping forced Ciss’ own goal.
The game between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Morocco ended in a 1-1 draw. While Algeria defeated Cameroon 0-1 in Daula.
The last game of the African zone playoff between Mali and Tunisia ended 0-1 in favour of the Carthage Eagles in Bamako city, Mali.
