Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane are set to face off when England plays France, so the two have put their friendship to the side.
England’s path to the World Cup final pits them against the reigning champions France, with individual contests like Kyle Walker vs. Kylian Mbappe expected to dominate the conversation. Another confrontation will pit England’s star player, Harry Kane, against his club teammate who will be manning the French goal.
Harry Kane statement on Hugo Lloris
Speaking in a pre-match press conference, Kane said: “He is a really good guy, one of the best goalkeepers in the world. For a game like this, we are not friends for sure and go to have a good battle against each other. I have known him for a long time and can’t speak highly enough of him. I will enjoy playing against him if we win, but know he will be doing everything to make France win.”
Since Kane’s Premier League debut in 2012 and Lloris’ transfer from Lyon that same year, the two have been stalwarts for Tottenham. Despite the fact that they have both failed to win trophies together, the French goalkeeper defeats Kane because he was crucial to France’s World Cup victory in Russia.
Both will exert every effort to advance their respective teams to the semifinals, where the winner would face either Portugal or Morocco.
