Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has released a statement urging people to “make them understand how disgusting” racism is, after he and his team mates were subjected to abuse, while Fiorentina apologised for the incident.
The racial slurs were heard during the post-match interviews, after Osimhen and his team-mates left with a 2-1 win at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
Kalidou Koulibaly heard the racist abuse from fans in the stands, which were aimed at him, Victor Osimhen and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.
Fiorentina were horrified by the incident, so director-general Joe Barone went to personally apologise to Koulibaly and his teammates.
Osimhen released a statement via social media, which was retweeted by the official Napoli account.
“Speak to your kids, your parents, make them understand how disgusting it is to hate an individual because of the color of their skin,” the Super Eagles star wrote.
