FA Cup: Klopp reveals why Liverpool lost to Man Utd

Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has claimed they left themselves exposed to Manchester United’s counter-attack, as his side crashed out of the FA Cup at Old Trafford.

United’s first two goals came on the break in a 3-2 win, that added to Liverpool’s problems after a five-game winless run in the Premier League.

Klopp said: “For the first goal we had no protection, we wanted it too much.

“Things like this should not happen. We had too many players in a receiving position.

“There were some mistakes around the goals. If you want to win here you have to be absolutely top and we were not.

“It’s not what we wanted so it’s frustrating. We scored twice and that’s all okay, but they scored three.”

Liverpool’s next game is away to Tottenham in the Premier League on Thursday.
