Spezia are reportedly close to signing Chelsea fringe player Ethan Ampadu, beating out a few other Serie A clubs.
He doesn’t appear to be required because the Blues have added a number of back-up players. Wesley Fofana’s potential acquisition, which has reportedly been agreed upon, will drop him further down the food chain.
So, leaving seems like the most likely course of action. This summer, a number of Serie A teams have reportedly expressed interest in the Welshman.
Spezia and Sassuolo are the most recent clubs to emerge.
In that contest, Spezia appears to have prevailed. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, a deal to acquire the defender is “progressing.”
He adds that Ampadu has agreed to personal terms and that there is a “full agreement” in place.
The Evening Standard reports similar information, but they claim Chelsea is “weighing up” a loan offer from Spezia that includes the option to purchase Ampadu for £12 million.
In either case, Spezia appears to be the most likely destination
