After narrowly missing out on signing midfielder Enzo Fernandez in the summer, Wolves are reportedly preparing to rekindle their interest in him as a transfer target.
The last transfer window saw both Premier League clubs place a high priority on strengthening their midfield. In fact, Wolves set a club record when they acquired Matheus Nunes from Sporting.
On deadline day, Liverpool changed its mind and signed Arthur Melo despite initially being opposed to adding another midfielder.
But before either side moved, they both had Argentine star Fernandez on their short list.
In order to try and sign him, Wolves actually sent a group to South America. However, Fernandez opted to switch from River Plate to Benfica.
Wolves reportedly want to re-enter the Fernandez market in the upcoming January window, according to The Sun.
The Molineux club, who consider Fernandez to be one of their “huge fans,” will attempt to persuade the 21-year-old to end his brief stint at Benfica.
