EPL: Why I didn’t leave Man City after winning treble – Guardiola opens up

Pep Guardiola says that those in charge of Manchester City are happy with the job he’s doing at the Etihad

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed why he is still at the club.

The Spaniard said his comfort and happiness are the major reasons he is still at the Etihad.

Having won the treble with the Citizens last season, many were expecting the Spaniard to take up a new challenge.

But the former Barcelona boss looks set to extending his contract at the Etihad beyond 2025.

Guardiola addressed the press on Saturday ahead of Manchester City’s  Community Shield clash against Arsenal at the Wembley on Sunday.

“I signed a contract for another two years because I feel comfortable — and nothing has changed whether we won [the Treble] or didn’t win.

“I’m happy and the people are happy, the board and the hierarchy especially, because they decide in the end which manager is going to lead this group of players.

‘If they are satisfied, I’m still satisfied. I want to defend what we won and maybe at the end of the season, if I am tired, we will talk with the club — or maybe extend more.”
