Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has thanked outgoing football director John Murtough.
Murtough announced his exit from the Premier League club this week.
It brought an end to over a decade of service for the club, and was not an unexpected development with INEOS building a new football operations structure.
Dan Ashworth will assume the role once Man Utd agree compensation with Newcastle, or his period of gardening leaves ends.
Ten Hag said: “You mentioned something for the new season and it’s very important.
“The new ownership is working on this and they have to replace this function to come into the new season.
“For the moment, I miss his support, but he moved on. We worked well together so I will say thank you to John and I wish him all the best for the future.
“I’ve worked with the new ownership well and closely together. That will not change. It doesn’t impact on the way I work here.
“The conditions are perfect and still are perfect and I’m happy for that. We want to set the right conditions to be successful.”
