Manchester United are unsure whether Cristiano Ronaldo will be part of the squad that departs on Friday for a pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia.
Ronaldo has not yet returned to training at Carrington, citing obligations to his family as the reason.
The absence of the 37-year-old comes after he informed the club that he wishes to leave this summer.
On Monday, Ronaldo was scheduled to rejoin his teammates who are training under new manager Erik ten Hag.
Instead, he has spent the last few days exercising at Portugal’s training facility.
According to Sky Sports News, Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has reportedly been pitching the “Cristiano effect” to clubs over the past few weeks after compiling a dossier on his client’s massive sponsorship, social media, and “new markets” influence.
Since Christian Eriksen has verbally committed to joining and full-back Tyrell Malacia is scheduled to be introduced, the club does not want the situation to overshadow Erik ten Hag’s preseason work or the incoming players.
