Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, has confirmed Cesar Azpilicueta is in hospital, after they suffered a head injury in their 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday.
The Blues captain is now under medical supervision.
Azpilicueta was hurt by a high boot as he challenged for the ball with Sekou Mara.
The incident led to the game being stopped for at least 10 minutes at Stamford Bridge.
Azpilicueta was given oxygen before leaving the pitch on a stretcher.
Potter told reporters: “He’s in hospital.
“He is conscious and speaking to his wife. Hopefully he is in the best place and we’re monitoring. He need to take all the precautions we need to take now.”
