Manchester City is considering options to increase the seating capacity of their home stadium, the Etihad Stadium, to more than 60,000.
The Premier League champions said they were looking into plans to build a covered fan zone and expand the stadium’s North Stand in a statement released on Monday.
City stated that their goal is to make the stadium a “world-leading” sporting and entertainment venue while also fostering economic development and job opportunities in the neighbourhood.
Since 2015, there has been permission to renovate the North Stand, which was initially constructed for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
The club announced that in early 2023, supporters will be asked to provide feedback on the proposals.
Due to a 2015 expansion, The Etihad now has a 53,400 capacity, ranking it as the fifth-largest stadium in the Premier League.
