Federico Pastorello, the agent to Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku, has claimed the player was already thinking about a move to Stamford Bridge during his final season at Manchester United.
Lukaku returned to West London last summer from Inter Milan, after the Blues agreed a £97million transfer fee for him.
It is however not the first time Chelsea have tried to re-sign Lukaku, as Antonio Conte was desperate to sign Lukaku in 2017.
However, Lukaku opted to join Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United in a £75m deal from Everton.
But Lukaku spent just two seasons at Old Trafford, before linking up with Conte at the San Siro.
Chelsea’s interest came late in the window and Lukaku had looked set to remain at the San Siro, even after Conte’s departure.
But Lukaku’s agent has revealed that the Belgian was contemplating a return to Stamford Bridge long before this summer and thought about rejoining Chelsea during his final season with United in the 18/19 campaign.
“During his last season at Man United he always had Chelsea in his head,” Pastorello told Sky Sports.
“Real Madrid as well I have to admit. That is another dream of his in terms of imagining his career, but Chelsea was always 100 per cent his target.
“They were the love of his childhood so there was always this desire to come back. It was a question of pride. He had that in his head and his heart.”
