Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, has revealed that Diogo Jota will miss the 2022 World Cup.
The Portugal international was stretched off in the latter stages of Liverpool’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.
It is believed Jota has picked up a calf injury, which sees him ruled out of the tournament in Qatar.
“Really not good news about Diogo, he will miss the World Cup,” Klopp told a news conference on Tuesday.
“Really serious injury calf muscle, recovery starts now. That’s it pretty much, first diagnosis pretty clear.
“Really sad news for the boy, Portugal and everyone that’s it.”
