Even though Spurs have a terrible record at Stamford Bridge, Sunday’s match was not going to be added to that record.
Hugo Lloris made an outstanding save to turn Kai Havertz’s low shot behind after the Blues executed a lovely move, and Chelsea scored from the ensuing corner as compensation for their performance.
Mason Mount created space on the edge of the box but blazed over, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek was unable to take advantage of several promising opportunities at wing-back. Chelsea really should have scored the second goal in that situation.
