Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has confirmed that the team is in negotiations to bring in Brighton defender Marc Cucurella this summer.
Guardiola made this statement following Man City’s victory over Club America on Wednesday in a preseason friendly.
Last season, Cucurella had a strong debut season in the Premier League and was named the Seagulls’ player of the year.
The Premier League champions, who are searching for a replacement for Oleksandr Zinchenko because the Ukrainian is close to joining Arsenal, have taken notice of his play.
“We are in negotiations. If it doesn’t happen, we have [got] alternatives.
In response to a question about Cucurella, Guardiola told reporters, “Cancelo, Wilson-Esbrand is a young talent, Ake can play there.”
