EPL: Gabriel Jesus sets Arsenal exit date as player makes title promises
Gabriel Jesus already has a departure date in mind from Arsenal, but he’s hoping to end the club’s Premier League title drought first after acknowledging that the Gunners have become “dormant.”
For £45 million, the Brazilian moved to north London earlier in July. With three goals in his first two preseason games, Gabriel Jesus has gotten off to a scorching start for Arsenal.
He has so far been used as the central striker, a position that Man City gave him far too few chances to excel in.
Jesus made the move despite the Emirates not staging Champions League games this year. Jesus is obviously confident in his ability to lead the Gunners back into the top four next season and beyond.
Speaking to Brazilian outlet TNT Sports, Jesus outlined the reasons why picking Arsenal was simple.
“Well, I believe it’s not a re-adaptation because I’m still in the same league, country environment, so that helps a lot,” said the marksman (via the Mirror).
“And in an environment where there are many young people, everyone talks, everyone laughs, everyone has fun together. There are Brazilians, there’s Mikel, there’s Edu, there are people from the staff that I also worked with.
“So this part is very important, the way the players welcomed me here is also important, it counted a lot. And, well, I’m happy to be here, for the start of this pre-season. And I believe that it is still nothing of what is to come.”
