Chelsea will reportedly pursue another defender in the form of Presnel Kimpembe after completing a deal for Kalidou Koulibaly.
With the acquisition of Raheem Sterling, Todd Boehly has increased the stakes in Chelsea’s squad revamp. The American, who serves as Chelsea’s acting sporting director, is also nearing a Koulibaly agreement.
The Napoli defender Koulibaly has already joined the team in Los Angeles, and Sterling will follow soon after.
According to Sky in Italy, a deal to acquire the Senegal international for about £32 million should be finalised on Thursday. The 31-year-old has scheduled a medical and is anticipated to sign a four-year deal worth about £160,000 per week.
Chelsea will add more defensive reinforcements, though. Tuchel is searching for another defender to pair with Koulibaly because he needs to replace Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.
Nathan Ake, a former Chelsea defender, is also on the verge of moving from Manchester City. Prior to the proposed £45 million switch, terms have been agreed upon with the Dutch star.
However, according to Bild reporter Christian Falk, Tuchel is also interested in defender Kimpembe of Paris Saint-Germain.
Due to his time spent in the French capital, former PSG coach Tuchel is well-versed in the defender for France. Tuchel is reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old, according to The Telegraph.
