EPL: Chelsea officially announces new manager

Chelsea has now officially announced the appointment of their new head coach, one day after letting go of their previous one.

Following prompt negotiations, Graham Potter has been named Chelsea’s newest manager.
After reportedly paying Brighton & Hove Albion a release clause of £7 million, the Blues were able to wrest the 47-year-old away from the Seagulls.

The English tactician joins Stamford Bridge a day after the two-time European champions fired Thomas Tuchel due to a string of defeats and rumours of conflict with the club’s management.

Potter joins a team that, according to Transfermarkt, spent the most money in Europe during the most recent transfer window—€281.99 million] —but is currently in a slump. Only three of the Blues’ seven games this season across all competitions have ended in victories.

Although Potter’s record as Brighton’s manager is questionable in terms of victories, the Englishman has received praise for the play style he introduced to the Amex Stadium and for helping players grow into some of the best in the league.

Potter, it is believed, has received a long-term contract from the Blues.
