Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell speaks on his new role under Pochettino

Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell, has said that he is learning his new role under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The England international also said he is feeling some pressure to get more goals and assists under his belt.

The 26-year-old plays as a full-back or a wing-back on the left of defence.

But Pochettino has pushed the Englishman further forward so far this season.

Chilwell still has to track back to defend his goal but he has more licence attacks than ever before.

The former Leicester City left-back is currently on England duty.

“It’s something new, but the manager has put his trust in me to play there so I’m just trying to repay that trust,” Chilwell told talkSPORT.

“I’m still learning as I’m going, I’ve been used to playing at left wing-back and before that left-back so this is a bit higher up the pitch.

“When I’m playing that high up the pitch I expect the pressure that’s on me to contribute to goals.

“Of course that’s something that I’m going to try and work on and improve in the next few games for Chelsea, to have that goal threat, shoot instead of passing the ball.

“It’s something that is new to me, it’s obviously new to Levi [Colwill] as well but we’re both taking it in our stride and we’re happy that we’re playing.”
