Nottingham Forest striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, set a new record when he opened scoring in their 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Friday night.

Awoniyi rose highest to thump home Serge Aurier’s cross in the opening five minutes.

His run of scoring in six consecutive Premier League appearances is now the longest of any Nigerian player.

He is surpassed by only two African players in the competition’s history – Mohamed Salah and Emmanuel Adebayor (seven-game runs).

Awoniyi also became the second Nottingham Forest player to score in six consecutive Premier League appearances, after Stan Collymore in 1994-95.
