Eduardo César Daud Gaspar, known as Edu, the technical director for Arsenal, and the club have begun contract negotiations for a new long-term contract.
He became Arsenal’s first technical director in 2019 after stints with Corinthians and the Brazilian national team, where he was the technical coordinator.
The 44-year-old has made a big impression since returning to Arsenal, where he played for four years. For significant sums of money, players like Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, and Gabriel Jesus all joined the team and were able to have an immediate impact on the first team.
Edu and abroad prospects
Reports state that intermediaries from all over Europe have contacted Edu to let him know that interest is growing. The French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain is one team that is thought to be pleased with his work, though they are not the only one.
However, according to sources familiar with the situation, Edu is very content at Arsenal and is committed to helping the Gunners win their first Premier League championship since moving into the Emirates Stadium.
Edu played 30 times for the last Arsenal team to defeat England as they won the ‘Invincibles’ title in 2003–04.
The Kroenke family, who own Arsenal, are thrilled with the club’s development over the past year and have approved Edu’s contract offer because of this. They are also confident that he will sign the contract before the end of the current campaign.
