EPL: ‘Absolutely useless’ – Agbonlahor slams Chelsea star after 1-0 defeat to Nottingham

Former Aston Villa captain, Gabriel Agbonlahor has described Chelsea’s mega-million January signing, Mykhailo Mudryk, as ‘absolutely useless.”

The former striker said the Ukrainian cameo against Nottingham Forest on Saturday was useless, calling on Mauricio Pochettino to change his formation.

Chelsea suffered a shock defeat in the hands of  Nottingham Forest with former Man United winger, Anthony Elanga netting  shortly after half-time.

The shock 1-0 defeat was similar to their defeat to West Ham last week.

The Blues dominated possession with 77% of the ball and had 21 shots but just two were on target.

Forest would have made it two with Elanga hitting the woodwork after Mudryk gave away the ball.

Agbonlahor feels the Ukrainian is simply not at the level required.

“What I don’t understand with Chelsea is that they had 21 shots and guess how many on target? Two,” said Agbonlahor on talkSPORT shortly after the game.

“They’re getting into the positions but they just don’t have the quality and it seems to be a theme now.

“You look on social media and the story is that Chelsea signs players but they lose games.

“They’ve bought loads of players who are average. Mudryk came on and he nearly gave away two goals!

“He was absolutely useless. He’s had 19 games, zero goals and they haven’t got a style of play.

‘Today it was five at the back or three centre-halves. They have Gallagher who doesn’t score goals in there and it’s slow.

“Caicedo made two mistakes in there, they’re changing formations again – why not start with a back four?”
