Barry Bennel, a former coach and serial sex offender dies in prison

Former football manager and serial sex offender Barry Bennell is now dead.

The ministry of justice confirmed that he has died in prison.

Bennell is a former Crewe Alexandra coach who was sentenced to 34 year in  prison for a number of offences against children. 

The Ministry of Justice’s spokesman said, “Prisoner Barry Bennell died at HMP Littlehey on September 16.

“As with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will investigate.”

Also known as Richard Jones, Bennell was sent to prison in 2018.

Having been convicted for 52 offences against 12 boys.
