Despite the arrival of his former manager Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford, Manchester United midfielder Donny Van de Beek is said to have offered himself to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma.
Van de Beek spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton, but he struggled with injuries and consistency during his time there.
After his loan spell with the Toffees comes to an end, he is expected to return to Manchester United, but the Dutchman could be on the move again.
The midfielder is willing to give up his Manchester United dream and join Roma, according to Corriere della Sera via Express. Roma recently won the inaugural Europa Conference League.
Van de Beek was a standout for Ajax under Ten Hag before joining Manchester United, and was a member of the team that reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.
Van de Beek and Frenkie de Jong, who has since moved to Barcelona, formed a formidable midfield partnership at the time. United is also keeping a close eye on De Jong’s situation and is willing to buy the Dutchman from Barcelona.
The Catalan giants would be willing to let the Dutchman go, especially given the club’s current financial situation, which requires them to drastically reduce their wage bill.
Ten Hag’s attitude towards Van de Beek In a recent interview, Ten Hag stated that he was looking forward to collaborating with Van de Beek once more.
“We had a fantastic squad in that time at Ajax. I really had a good relationship with him. Of course I am looking forward to meeting him again on the pitch.” He said as quoted by Express Sport.
