Five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or Cristiano Ronaldo kept his die-hard fans guessing with a positive message on social media.
After a whirlwind seven days, Ronaldo appears to be back in the good graces of Manchester United and is in line to reclaim his starting spot.
The 37-year-old missed United’s most recent game, a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, because he was suspended for walking down the tunnel before full time in the previous game against Tottenham Hotspur.
United manager Erik Ten Hag later revealed that Ronaldo had turned down the opportunity to come on late in the game on October 19.
All of that appears to be in the past now, and Ronaldo is fully focused on his club’s potential next assignment, a Europa League game against Sheriff Tiraspol.
Ronaldo’s Reaction
Prior to the match, the Portuguese international appeared to send a subtle message to his manager via social media, posting a photo of himself on Twitter from United’s most recent training session.
Captioning the photo, he wrote: “Back on track, with the same commitment and dedication as always!”
Despite being United’s top scorer last season with 24 goals in all competitions, Ronaldo has struggled not only for game time but also for goals this season.
He has scored 2 goals in 8 games for Manchester United so far this season with one goal in the Europa league and another in the Premier league.
