Cristiano Ronaldo has been awarded the Premier League’s April 2022 Player of the Month making it two monthly awards this season.
Despite a mixed record at Manchester United, he received the honor.
Last month, the 37-year-old scored five goals in four Premier League games for Manchester United.
He began April with a spectacular hat-trick against Norwich City at Old Trafford.
In Arsenal’s 3-1 loss against the north Londoners, he also scored a consolation goal. Ronaldo’s goal was his 100th in the Premier League.
After Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and Wayne Rooney, the Portuguese became the club’s fourth player to achieve a century in the Premier League.
Ronaldo’s spectacular strike at the Theatre of Dreams quickly followed, securing a 1-1 draw against Chelsea in United’s final game of April.
It is CR7’s second Premier League award since his return to English football in the summer.
He also won in September, after a headline-grabbing second debut in a 4-1 hammering of Newcastle United.
Ronaldo now has six Premier League Player of the Month accolades, equaling Steven Gerrard and trailing just Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane on the all-time record.
The latest accolade brings the Portuguese international within one of Tottenham striker Harry Kane and former Manchester City player Sergio Aguero’s Premier League record of seven.
The forward was chosen from a shortlist of eight players that included Nathan Collins, Kevin De Bruyne, Bruno Guimaraes, Gabriel Jesus, Son Heung-min, Thiago, and Leandro Trossard.
The honor is even more stunning given that he was on special leave during United’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool.
Ronaldo was unable to attend the match at Anfield owing to his grief at the untimely death of his newborn infant boy.
